Rajaji National Park is located in Uttarakhand, the state of India, encompassing the area of 820 sq. km including Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal, and Dehradun. This national park is renowned for several elephants. Presently, Rajaji National Park is named as Rajaji Tiger Reserve which has been here covering more than 1000 sq. km in the forest of Shivalik foothills region near Haridwar. Rajaji National Park is also famous for more than 400 species of birds including Scaly thrush, Rusty-flanked tree creeper, Snowy-brown Flycatcher, Black-necked stork etc. Rajaji National Park was named after the renowned freedom fighter as well as the first Governor General of India after independence, Raj Gopalacharya, who was familiar as Rajaji.
